Teaser Campaign

"Dialogues at the Turning Point" is a video teaser series tailored for social media, celebrating the 10th Edition of the Buffer Fringe Festival with the theme "Turning Point." These videos are shot as the part of an intensive three-day collaboration at the PERA - School of Performing Arts - studios, further refined with conceptual touches with tools such as Blender, Max/Msp, and Visual Studio Code.

Collaborative team includes Ana (Performing Artist), Ecem (Documentary Director), Memo (Performing Artist), and Ozan (Visual Artist and Editor), who united to capture transformative moments. Following a review with the Buffer Fringe Team, Ozan Tezvaran enriched the chosen segments using his technological experiments.

The video implements a React application that utilizes TensorFlow's PoseNet model to analyze and visualize body angles from a video, then compares these angles to pre-defined target angles to determine and highlight the main turning point of the body. When a main turning point in the user's pose changes, colored squares are added to the canvas, where each color corresponds to a specific body part.

Festival Opening Screen

The co-curators of the festival, Ahmad Baba and Eleni Angastinioto, proposed the idea of delivering the opening speech for the 10th Edition of the Buffer Fringe Festival through a video. I was tasked with designing an avatar to voice and visualize the provided speech, as well as creating a world that portrays the story and perspective of the festival. The resulting video was screened at the beginning of each day of the festival, including at the Buffer Zone.

Creating the avatar of the opening video with Meta Human

Here are some studio captures of our character named "Hezo"They were designed to blend different genders, nationalities, and ethnicities to create an inclusive appearance.

Designing The World with Unreal Engine The world map is created as a labyrinth to depict the complex political structure of Cyprus.
The Buffer Fringe Festival is renowned for its thought-provoking questions in their open calls. Consequently, our labyrinth is filled with neon pink question marks that illuminate the space. Hezo, placed in a third-person game perspective and rigged, becomes a playable character that interacts with the question marks, symbolically triggering the events of the festival.

Talk with Wav2Lip

After testing several technologies such as Unreal Engine’s live link and FaceWare Studio that can link to Unreal Engine we have decided to go for Wav2Lip via Google Colab. We have provided the voice that we have generated, and feed the application seperately with audio and a studio footage of Hezo. This action is provided for each part of the speech.
