Long Distance
Interactive Installation, April 2023
"Long Distance" is an interactive installation where your heartbeat drives the fabrics movemet.
Users attach their finger to a pulse sensor. This sensor, through an Arduino, communicates with Max/MSP. The system sends a 1Hz sine wave corresponding to the user's heartbeat, creating a pulsating movement in the fabric speaker.
Soft Sound Speaker Overview:
Developed by EJTECH, the 'Soft Sound' project transforms fabric into functional speakers. By integrating conductive materials like copper and silver coils into fabric via laser-cutting, these textiles can produce sound. The application goes beyond clothing, suggesting potential for sound-emitting wall panels or other fabric-based items.
Objective:
While the speaker emits sound, the primary interest lies in the fabric's responsive movement to the user's heartbeat.
